Hospitality Wisdom From “The Bear”

I spent a good portion of yesterday (Wednesday), outside of caregiving, taking a break & enjoying the new Season 4 of television series “The Bear."

I had hoped there would be a gem worth sharing with you, Noel Nocciolo in our Weekly-ish Wednesday emails to you if I slept on sending it a day…and I was not disappointed.

Season 4, Episode 1, Scene 1:

"Restaurants are special places, right? And people go to restaurants to be taken care of, right? They go to rest, to celebrate, to relax, to not have to think about anything else for a minute. People go to restaurants to feel less lonely."

A few minutes later in the same scene:

[with Led Zeppelin “That's The Way” playing in the background; one of my all-time favorite songs to cool down & stretch to when I teach cycle ]

"We could take care of people. We could make it calm. We could make it delicious. We could play good music. People would want to come in there to celebrate, right? They'd want to come in there after they had great days and they would want to come in there even more after they had shitty ones. We could make people happy."

Read it again with our boutique fitness studio edit?

"Restaurants Movement studios are special places, right?

And people go to restaurants studios to be taken care of, right?

They go to rest, move,

to celebrate,

to relax, sweat,

to not have to think about anything else for a minute.

People go to restaurants to feel less lonely."

And

"We could take care of people. (absolutely)

We could make it calm. (the vibe, sure, the classes? depends on format!)

We could make it delicious. (fun, a vibe, a party, a serious space for people who come to see results, etc)

We could play good music. (100% yes)

People would want to come in there to celebrate, right? (yep!)

They'd want to come in there after they had great days and they would want to come in there even more after they had shitty ones. ()

We could make people happy." ()

If you could re-write this dialogue from “The Bear” for your studio space, what would it say?

Of course, I'd love to read it if you want to reply & share.

I couldn't help but think it was intentional that a series which highlights delivering food experiences & running a hospitality business (family-dysfunction-aside) would drop their new season on Anthony Bourdain's birthday.

Have a great rest of your week!

Noël
